I. M. Foster
I. M. Foster is the pen name author Inez Foster uses to write her historical mystery series, the South Shore Mysteries. Set on Edwardian Long Island, it features local doctor and coroner, Daniel O’Halleran as he attempts to solve crimes with the unsolicited assistance of librarian Kathleen Brissedon, occasionally causing sparks to fly in more than one way. Book 1, Murder on Oak Street, opens with Daniel leaving New York City for the village of Patchogue on Long Island’s South Shore. Other books are scheduled to follow, blending mystery, adventure, history, and a touch of romance on early twentieth-century Long Island.
Inez also writes historical and paranormal romances under the pseudonym Andrea Matthews and has so far published two series in that genre: the Thunder on the Moor series and the Cross of Ciaran series. The former is a time-travel romance, set in the sixteenth century on the turbulent Borders between Scotland and England. When twentieth-century Maggie Armstrong discovers her father is an actual Scottish Border Reiver, over four hundred years old, they travel back to the time of his birth. But love doesn’t always abide by the rules and trouble ensues when she encounters English reiver, Will Foster.
The second series, the Cross of Ciaran, is a paranormal romance. When a fifth-century pagan priest awakes a few weeks after being uncovered in the hills of County Mayo, navigating the twentieth-century may be the least of his troubles, especially when he finds himself falling in love with the very archaeologist who discovered him.
Inez is a historian and retired librarian, who loves to read and write and search around for her roots, genealogically speaking. She has a BA in History and an MLS in Library Science and enjoys the research almost as much as she does writing the story. In fact, many of her ideas come to her while doing casual research or digging into her family history.
